Self-Reflecting For The New Year

2018 has come to a close, and with it’s closure, you will undoubtedly see a slew of New Year, New Me posts, while others proclaim their New Year’s Resolutions, and others still talking about how ready they are for the year to end, as if their troubles will wash away from one day to the next.

This article isn’t to talk down on these people, and if you are one of these individuals, you are encouraged to continue reading:

The beginning of a new calendar year doesn’t magically change your situation. What this means is that your life, from one day to the next, is a result of what you put into it days, weeks, months, and years before. Put good in, get good out of it. Are you tired of your job? Go out and start applying for a new one. Are you tired of being over/underweight? Change your diet, drink more water, etc.

If while reading this you find yourself muttering under your breath that it’s easier said than done, or that you can’t simply go out and do these things, then challenge yourself to reflect on what makes you say these things, because at this point, the only thing stopping you is your own state of mind.

Don’t be afraid to take risks, don’t be afraid to be uncomfortable, and don’t be afraid to fail. If you don’t take risks, you’ll never know what could’ve been, if you are always comfortable, then you are never pushing yourself to do greater things, and if you never fail, then you will never know what it feels like to overcome, and that is the worst thing you can deprive yourself of.

From all of us in BackWordz, we wish you all to have a Happy New Year, stay safe, challenge yourself, and be great!
